The Way It Should Be...!

Once in a great while, the good guys manage to win one!

This story from Mississippi shows one way to handle certain groups that have no respect for the feelings of grieving families. I say..."well done"!

Westboro Baptist Church Goes To Mississippi – And Loses

On Saturday USMC Staff Sgt. Jason Rogers, who was killed in action in Afghanistan April 7, was buried in Brandon, Mississippi.

That, by itself, is a sadly unremarkable – though certainly noteworthy and solemn – occasion for us to mark.

And in fact when Sgt. Rogers’ body returned to Brandon it was greeted by hundreds, or perhaps even thousands, of well-wishers who gathered at the roadside to honor the fallen American hero. The dashboard camera from Mississippi state trooper Elmo Townsend’s cruiser gives an indication of the scene last Thursday.

What is most notable about Sgt. Rogers’ funeral in Brandon, however, is what didn’t happen.

You see, the troglodytes from Westboro Baptist Church had threatened to spew their poison at Sgt. Rogers’ funeral.

But the Westboro mob wasn’t on the scene, and Sgt. Rogers was laid to rest without incident – thank God.

Why weren’t there protestors?

Planning ahead by the locals, as it turns out.

From an Ole Miss sports message board, a tidbit of information…

A couple of days before, one of them (Westboro protestors) ran his mouth at a Brandon gas station and got his arse waxed. Police were called and the beaten man could not give much of a description of who beat him. When they canvassed the station and spoke to the large crowd that had gathered around, no one seemed to remember anything about what had happened.

Rankin County handled this thing perfectly. There were many things that were put into place that most will never know about and at great expense to the county.

Most of the morons never made it out of their hotel parking lot. It seems that certain Rankin county pickup trucks were parked directly behind any car that had Kansas plates in the hotel parking lot and the drivers mysteriously disappeared until after the funeral was over. Police were called but their wrecker service was running behind and it was going to be a few hours before they could tow the trucks so the Kansas plated cars could get out.

A few made it to the funeral but were ushered away to be questioned about a crime they might have possibly been involved in. Turns out, after a few hours of questioning, that they were not involved and they were allowed to go on about their business.

Fred Phelps, the disbarred lawyer and Democrat activist who leads the Westboro congregation, will undoubtedly pursue some form of legal action for the way his people were thwarted in Brandon. Let him try. There isn’t a jury in Mississippi which will see things his way.

This is a template for how to handle the Westboro people. If lawsuits don’t work, other means will. Whatever it takes to keep them from harassing bereaved military families on the day their fallen loved ones are laid to rest.

The people that make up the slimy group of this so-called "church" are eventually going to catch on to the fact that their actions will NOT be tolerated in many places! The wrath they face here, in my opinion, is nothing compared to what they will face with they stand before the final judgement!

This is, of course, just my opinion...for what it's worth!

How about some fresh coffee on the patio before it get's too hot! Close to 100 again today, it looks like!

A good friend of mine did much the same thing back during the Viet Nam protest in Oakland, or Someplace Calif. my friend snatched a hippie, who was making some sort of speech, off the platform he was on and beat the living crap out of the protester. There were cops all around but my friend was in full dress greens so the cops just turned their backs until he was through.

I'm sure that many in the news media LOVE the fact that those morons call themselves a "church." And I'm with you, I wouldn't want to be in their shoes come Judgment Day!

Great story Jim! You know it is America these slime bags have a right to say whatever they want. However a funeral is really not the time or place. What sort of (church) would say the evil vile things these people (demons) say? It is probably just a matter of time before some bereaved father takes one of em out! That town is awesome. A lesson there for many things!

Those folks in Brandon, Miss. sure know how to do things right. Maybe they could give lessons to the rest of us about "thinking outside the box".

Good for them Mississipians - protesting at an event that is one of the worst days of a person's life deserves some come uppance. A good life's lesson.

Way to go Brandon, Mississippi. It's about time people stood up to these wackos and told them where they can stick it. I want to be next to next to them on Judgement Day just to hear St. Peter tell them where they can all go.

we handle them differently here in Kansas. A group at a local VFW started the Patriot Guard. The guard escorts the funeral and lines the streets with their bikes, blocking the view of the protesters and keeping the family from seeing them. And sometimes from hearing them.

I love Bikers, have I ever told you that Jim? Well, I do.

It is a great organization. No violence, no stooping to those awful peoples level.

A funeral procession is no place for a protest of any kind. Nice work done by that town. And also bless the Patriot Guard.

There are no words vile enough to describe what I think about that "church" and Fred Phelps. More towns should take Brandon's lead to dissuade these lowlife, scumsucking, walking POS from coming around. And I'm with China, one day some father is going to blow one of those protesters away if they keep it up. I saw an interview a major news program did with the Westboro people about their protests and it made me sick to my stomach to see how much those people (and I use that term lightly) really enjoy what they do. There is a special place in Hell reserved for them.

Yes!!!! Them not even getting out of the parking lot is perfect! Now if we Kansans could figure out a way to not let them out of their own driveways. . .

Each of us has a right to our opinions and to express those opinions but treating a grieving family that way is just wrong!

Some where along the way the Westboro mob missed the commandment of Christ's about "Doing unto others as you would have them do unto you."

HJ, I found a new recipe for apple cake I like. Would you like a slice with your coffee?

Hey tjbbpgobIII...
There comes a time that someone has to say "enough is enough!"

The courts couldn't help, so the "good ol' boys " just took care of business on their own!

Thanks for coming by today!

Hey Gorges...
If I remember correctly, Jim Jones called his group a church as well! We all remember how that turned out!

Like the old saying goes..."Hell to pay, come judgement day!"

I appreciate you coming by this morning!

Hey China...
To tell you the truth, I'm surprised that some serious violence hasn't broken out yet!

Like you I agree that they have the right to say what they want...but if I were them, I'd find a better place to do so!

Thanks, buddy, for coming by today!

Hey YOF...
Certainly sounds like they had a workable plan, doesn't it?

Nice that they had the LEOs on their side, I'm thinking!

Handled the whole thing pretty well, I think!

My friend, I appreciate you coming by today!

Hey Ben...
I'm a bit surprised myself that it hasn't happened in Texas before now!

More than ever, folks are just plain fed up with this kind of B.S.

Almost time for a little payback!

Thanks, buddy, for dropping by today!

Hey Momlady...
My thoughts exactly! Certainly one I don't want to be associated with!

Thanks for coming over today!

Hey Anon 7:24...
I couldn't agree with you more! It my mind, it's called "respect" and it should be offered, but I don't expect the jerks to understand that!

Oh well, their time is coming!

Thanks for the visit today!

Hey Linda...
The scary part of this whole thing is that the Westboro group actually believe in what they are doing!

What a bunch of sicko's!

Hey, I thank you for coming by today!

HermitJim said...

Hey Phelan...
I have a special place in my heart for folks like the Patriot Guard!

Wish there were more groups like this around!

Thanks for coming by today!

Hey Dizzy...
Couldn't agree with you more! Time and a place for everything...!

Thanks, my friend for coming over today!

Hey ER...
There is no accounting for these folks! The fact that they enjoy what they do just shows how sick they are!

That's alright! Their day is coming, for sure!

Many thanks for coming by today!

Hey Judy...
Yeah, I think they did real well!

I sure would like some of that cake this morning! Need something to go with my coffee!

Besides, I do like me some apple cake!

Thanks for your visit today!

Even though this was a sad occasion this story made me happy :-) There´s still hope for humanity after all :-) :-) I do hope more will do as they did!

Have a great day now!

Hey Bob...
I'm thinking that some good ol' tar and feathers might be just the thing!

Sure would be a waste of good feathers, though!

Thanks for coming by today!

Hey Christer...
Let's hope that these "people" can't reproduce any time soon!

I really appreciate you coming by today, buddy!

Well done Mississippi. That crowd are a bunch of really twisted people. Are they actually part of the human race? Just thinking.

In Ok. we just passed a law barring demonstrations at a funeral for two hours before and two hours after the funeral and no demonstrations within 1000 feet. The Patriot Guard rides with all military funerals also. The U.S Injustice Department will probably sue us someday but that's another day.
